a study toward sonnet #465 by FisherKingKQJ
The mackerel seagulls in a spiral ascent
A dollar bill symbol traced on overcast sky,
It made me feel vacuously decadent,
Revelling in soured love at their cry.
I watched a greybacked seagull pick and pry
A mussel shell open for grey living gunk,
But it caved in to a mackerel seagull sly
Who weighed in like a wiseguy or punk.
And so away the rightful killer slunk
To the amusement of crowding sparrows,
So away I slunk like an initiate monk
Into a hermit cave retreat which sallows.
My next beach babe will be discreet;
Will be courted piecemeal and discrete.
(Chorus)
My next beach babe will be discreet.
My next beach babe will be tactful.
My next beach babe will be wary.
