Revised sonnet #48
My squeeze and I assaulted rough Lion Rock
The summit conquered from the safest side
The breeze in blusters knocked us weak and wide
Old Whakaari pa panned prize braking chock
Lion Rock joined sea and sky around its block
Our kisses witnessed none nought here to hide
The gently gliding gulls in concert cried
The grounded gannets grew to silent flock
The sunset sees us walk down steps to base
As change of guard of insect life occurs
The cricket chirps cicada chirps displace
The surf explosive over sharp edged spurs
At one oclock walked we wet arm in arm
Through low tide cave of pebbles pit of calm
Chorus arm arm arm
