A mountain fellfield find to us appeals
Its screes slice savagely at sandstone slides
He estimates the gallons deluge deals
Then we invade a cave that creeper rides
Tohunga bones abandoned compost bides
He kisses red hair mine his fingers catch
The raking rain as suddenly subsides
It rills upon fern fronds fanned flat as hatch
The kamahi and mafoe sway and snatch
In path of boots and shins and boughs yield moss
As we vault past a mould and lichen patch
And splash the waterway in scum and dross
The both of us trekked wet thats nearly nude
His kit uncannily tight muscles hewed
