a study toward sonnet #536 by FisherKingKQJ
The on-again off-again relationship
With Mickey had lasted for a few years;
His uni chum Mike might give him the pip,
I felt, according to his sidelong stares.
So when we bought Black Sea holiday fares
I felt Mickey was readying to propose,
As we sunbathed on rickety deckchairs,
Perhaps in a voice solemn or jocose.
As he'd been mutely moody and morose,
I dated Mike behind his spineless back;
Mike was competitive and boldly chose-
Proposed by light plane and banner tack.
But just to Mickey could my heart betroth,
I sobbed alone; I avoided them both.
(Chorus)
I sobbed alone; I avoided them both. SPADES
I sobbed alone; I avoided them pair. CLUBS
I sobbed alone; I avoided them twosome. DIAMONDS
