a study toward sonnet #299 by FisherKingKQJ
I'm not some ingenue or curmudgeon,
Or feisty drama queen, and so I worked
Up some bravado to rubber bludgeon
The boy about the duties he had shirked.
I loved him almost all, but one thing irked-
No public show of affection - no hug,
No kiss, no squeeze - all in shadow lurked
In privacy, as if from crook to thug!
I'm not saying he was a two faced mug,
All Im saying is: we were two soul mates
Not a twenty four seven shoulder shrug
About on platonic business dates.
He gave me a reluctant public kiss,
Then improvised a pash of manic bliss.
[ll1 and 14 lengthened, shortened for typeset. 22/9/05]
He gave me a reluctant public kiss.
He gave me a reluctant public buss.
He gave me a reluctant public pash.
