a study toward sonnet #680 by FisherKingKQJ
When I said the words that I loved you
I was only going through accepted motions,
Immature maverick with scarce a clue,
I was biased toward bombastic notions.
Bluffed sieves gritting purest gold of oceans,
And yet they were bobbing within the mark,
Decanted through torts alchemic lotions
To separate gold from lead alloy dark.
The acid test then lifted small print stark-
I got you upside down and back to front;
In hindsight love looked our complicit lark,
Your self deprecations an affront font.
Your name on my heart in gold leaf letters,
A love so strong no nagging nuance deters.
(Chorus)
Your name on my heart in gold leaf letters. SPADES
Your name on my heart in gold leaf characters. CLUBS
Your name on my heart in gold leaf ideograms. DIAMONDS
