a study toward sonnet #982 by FisherKingKQJ
My verse is standfree, without weak reference,
Who could mistake that you're my lovely muse;
To histories I bring quite thorough deference,
Revision on high won't shock or disabuse.
The Sistine Chapel seemed a burning fuse,
Inspired that genius rich Dutch school of smoke;
To swamis I've paid great respects and dues,
No surprise for me in its bright scrubbed folk.
My images rise from words that you spoke,
Line length, meter, grammar cause no quibble;
Comparisons of you to the sun would be a joke,
Change us both to current diaorrhea dribble.
Your eyes sparkling send out gold and rhodium,
Raise these lines above fourth rate poet odium.
(Chorus)
o $10,000,000 odium
o $10,000,000 disrepute
o $10,000,000 infamy
