Revised sonnet #130
The paddle driven gondola appeared
To cut through coloured glass a wave at bow
A wake at stern two queers on quay then neared
Their Gatto masks emitted miaow on miaow
Our Bauta masks mute mum they werent as weird
The girl on girl a dated pleasure now
At Ponte delle Tette the paddler paused and leered
To Florians barocca and noodle chow
In masquerade the Carnivals elite
Allows itself the swap of sex as guise
Allows itself the value face to eyes
Conceit canal its wholly water street
Ice raked through riddle onto anisette
You sip I wonder what else can I get
Chorus anisette anice anijs
