a study toward sonnet #1,280 by FisherKingKQJ
1.9.07 (v)
I slumped aback on the slat queensized bed,
My head steeped pillows, my sore, tearful eyes
Engaged the circling ceiling fan clockwise,
Its looming shadow clipped across my head.
What chinese whispers, what cheap faults were shred
In my deep silence, close up as large as lies,
I could hear my so secret self sob sighs
He'd been committed straight, my real self read.
I'd think of obvious clues to bring him close,
But would not slag my slacker ex to score,
Whom I'd let chiefly do heaps as he chose,
Whom I'd critique to tick off furthermore.
He left with one befuddled shoulder shrug,
I sneaked the satin topsheet round me snug.
(Chorus)
o $10,000,000 shrug
o $10,000,000 cringe
o $10,000,000 jiggle
