a revision of a study toward sonnet #25 by FisherKingKQJ
In front of the television I fell asleep
And dreamed myself a stern metallic knight;
You yourself were an exiled castle-keep
Who'd brazenly laid siege in broad daylight.
Your braids under a wimple, you cut a slight
But tomboy figure at the trebuchet,
You rattled loud arrows honied for flight,
You shot me with a thorny rose bouquet.
Through loopholes I glanced your lovelorn foray-
The waterbowl rippled: I heard the taps
And scrapes of spades, I felt the castle sway-
Under the moat by tunnel you'd ferried saps.
Besotted and tremulous, I now yield
To you my chainmail, crossbow and shield.
Besotted and tremulous, I now yield.
Besotted and tremulous, I now cede.
Besotted and tremulous, I now waive.
