Revised sonnet #1258
I listened echoed laughter down our hall
Your voice appealed in pitch the high and sweet
The other voice a vague drone dead discreet
Id stalk you lovingly I lacked the gall
The other night I heard you bleat and bawl
I heard him hiss hard hit he meant to mete
A window opened wide you let out heat
I sensed a chance you wouldnt cave or crawl
Just why our lives arent pleasant simple stuff
I guess Ill never know you understand
Ill sort out something subtly underhand
Im far above the king hit fisticuff
I wonder whats your shortened christian name
That gammy leg a curious fault else lame
