sonnet #1,607

Now your mum's foisted you the facts of life,
My daughter, learn the facts of life from dad,
I know that teen years teem with strife
In hormone bursts, I hedge recalling how that's bad.
The world's irrational, and wobbling mad,
I'd rather see you ever some bloke's wife,
Low water mark acknowledged, not a cad,
Enjoying employment, thrown to rigours rife.
We're not your best friends one summer season,
We'd rather love you distanced, nearby dwell,
And not sabotage things, serve up treason
With force, a laughing lax or heckling hell.
But rules are rules, that you do we can't fuss,
Achieve that you now choose, no less than us.

(Chorus)

o fuss
o ado
o clamour
