Thebes Built by Amphion
stanza (iv)
When Amphion gurgled on sea spray
A porpoise whooshed him over waves,
And shed him within shallow bay;
That porpoise or else dolphin saves,
A throwback from Atlantis' day,
Amphibians spares from water graves.
Marine shanties, loomtrills, marches,
Lyre-bow, and plectrum-arrowhead,
Instructed soaring keystones, arches
And lava bricks, queued air ships led,
Wafted workers' past throat parches
With fetching lyrics heat pump fed.
