Revised sonnet #1622
Though I've emerged the man I aimed to be
And stumbled stumbling blocks and paid the dues
The past and present segue they gnaw at me
They set off sleepless nights they don't amuse
I cut you short unsure I forced you free
I wasn't one you'd ever freely choose
I wasnt one who'd stir your girlish glee
You underlined my many valid views
I proffered subtle hints I saw you scram
I put a frame around the fatal fault
A flighty mindless mug I couldn't moult
Your dainty raps and slaps that gave a damn
Awake all night I miss your soothing words
And wait on dawn that bidding call of birds
